Sci-fi, yuri/loli/fanservice.
I don't really know what to tell you.
The fans at ANN seem to think this is worth a solid 6.9....
I hate to admit it but I think it's worth a 7.9.
It's alternate retelling of World War 2 is kind of refreshing, albeit kind of naive.
It's kind of hard to rationalize this show as anything more than a fanservice extravaganza.
No women under the age of 30 seems to be wearing any kind of skirt or pants.
YES the girls are wearing only their panties,
occasionally with hosiery or tights or they are wearing only a swim-suit.
Stir in a tiny bit of loli-com with a dose of yuri implications and all that fanservice,
Then
top it off with something of a plot and you get Strike Witches.
This spawned from some light novels and super-kawaii illustrations by Humikane Shimada.
After seeing some preliminary illustrations in an old magazine called Magi-Que several years ago along with
Shimada's Illustration Art-book released last fall there is A LOT of background for this series,
IN FACT there is slated to be a second season of Strike Witches in production pretty soon.(2009-04/05)
Surprisingly Funimation will be releasing the first series in early 2010 here in North America.
